First-ever JOTA JOTI Ovenight Camp was held on JOTA JOTI 2023 weekend 21st-22nd October 2023 at S. Thomas Preparatory School Colombo 3. The main goal was to introduce Scouts for both JOTA and JOTI in-combine to build friendships around the world.
Acquiring strong signal or 59 was not an easy task due to tall buildings surrounding the school premises making it more challenging. Its’ all part of Scouting: adapting to the environment.
The event allowed Scouts to communicate via radio and use Scoutlink to make contacts during JOTA JOTI. The event was followed up with a BBQ by senior Scouts of the troop.
An activity card was introduced to help Scouts to keep entertained and certain activities were subject to removal as several examinations took place in school premises where the programme had to be halted during those hours.
